This Matcha and Spinach Smoothie Bowl Does More Than Look Good
There is a version of this bowl that is just pretty. Vibrant green base, jewel-toned toppings, the kind of thing that performs beautifully on a grid and then gets forgotten by Tuesday.
This is not that version.
This bowl is built to do something. Encha Barista Grade for bold, sustained energy. Spinach for iron and nutrients. Avocado for healthy fats and creaminess. A homemade raspberry compote with fresh mint because some things are worth the extra five minutes. The result is a bowl that looks extraordinary and genuinely earns it.
The Ingredient That Changes Everything
Spinach. Not enough to taste. Enough to matter.
Adding a handful of fresh spinach to the base does three things. It deepens the green color to something genuinely vivid and striking. It adds iron, folate, and a range of micronutrients without affecting the flavor. And it makes this bowl feel like a considered choice rather than just a beautiful one.
Pair it with Encha Barista Grade, which brings its own antioxidant richness in the form of EGCG and catechins, and you have a breakfast that is working hard from the very first spoonful.
The Matcha and Spinach Smoothie Bowl
Serves 1. About 15 minutes.
For the base:
- 1 tsp Encha Barista Grade Matcha
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 large handful fresh spinach
- 1/4 ripe avocado
- 1/2 cup coconut yoghurt
- 1/4 cup oat milk
For the raspberry compote:
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
- 1 tsp honey
- Splash of water
- Fresh mint to finish
Toppings:
- Raspberry compote with mint
- Granola
- Frozen blueberries
- Fresh fig slices
- Coconut flakes
How to Make It
Step 1: Make the raspberry compote
Add raspberries, honey, and a splash of water to a small saucepan. Heat on low for five minutes, stirring occasionally, until the raspberries break down into a loose jammy compote. Remove from heat and set aside to cool. Add fresh mint just before serving. The compote keeps in the fridge for up to five days and works on everything from yoghurt to pancakes.
Step 2: Blend the base
Add oat milk to the blender first. Then add spinach and blend briefly until broken down. Add frozen banana, avocado, coconut yoghurt, and Encha Barista Grade Matcha. Blend until completely smooth and a deep, vivid green throughout. The avocado adds body and creaminess. The spinach adds depth of color. The Barista Grade ties it all together with a genuine matcha flavor that holds through every other ingredient.
Step 3: Assemble
Pour into a wide shallow bowl. Working around the bowl, add the raspberry compote with a few mint leaves, granola, frozen blueberries, fresh fig slices, and coconut flakes. The contrast between the deep green base and the jewel-toned toppings is what makes this bowl as visually striking as it is nutritious.
Step 4: Serve immediately
The figs soften quickly and the granola loses its crunch within minutes. Serve and eat straight away.
Tips Worth Knowing
Ripe figs make a significant difference. A properly ripe fig is soft, sweet, and the perfect contrast to the earthy matcha and tart raspberry. An underripe fig is firm and slightly bitter. Choose carefully.
Blend the spinach with the liquid first. Adding spinach to the blender before the frozen ingredients ensures it breaks down completely without leaving any leafy texture in the base.
Make the compote the night before. It takes five minutes and having it ready in the fridge makes the whole bowl come together in under ten minutes the next morning.
Why This Is the Breakfast Your Body Will Thank You For
This is not just a pretty bowl. Every ingredient is doing something.
Encha Barista Grade delivers clean, sustained energy through naturally balanced caffeine and L-theanine. No spike. No crash. Just four to six hours of calm focus from the first spoonful. Spinach brings iron and folate, particularly valuable for anyone managing low iron levels or following a plant-based diet. Avocado brings healthy fats that support brain function and satiety. The raspberry compote brings vitamin C which helps your body absorb the iron from the spinach more efficiently.
