The matcha bamboo scoop is a small but essential tool in the traditional tea ceremony. It is called chashaku in Japanese. The tea master keeps his/her own chashaku in the matcha set. Its long and slim shape adds a minimalist and elegant touch to your matcha ritual.
Chashaku: Matcha Bamboo Scoop
Encha matcha scoop (chashaku) is made of real bamboo. Please don't wash it in the dishwasher. You can wipe it clean or hand-wash and dry it right away.
Encha matcha bamboo scoop is about 7 inch long and 3/8 inch wide at the scoop end. Don't expect to get precise measurement by using a chashaku. The amount of matcha powder on the chashaku in the front picture of Encha package is about 0.7 to 1 grams. One level teaspoon of Encha matcha powder is about 2 grams. So you can use a measuring teaspoon to get familiarized with matcha measurement and then use the bamboo scoop for daily enjoyment.
